Cancel Culture: What Is It and Should It Be Happening

We've all heard the term CANCEL CULTURE but what is it really?

We are hearing this term more often these days but I can't really find a definition that's fitting. Back in the day we had something called "calling out". To call someone out was not only brave but it was for the sake of truth! It  was considered brave to be bold enough to spare feelings for the sake of such truth.  A bearded man in a dress? "Hey buddy, nice try but wearing a dress doesn't make you a woman. It makes you a man in a dress". Saying this truth was to set things straight and to respect both parties, the bloke and the woman.

Now? One owner of a soap company or a fried chicken chain gets caught saying the wrong words or attends a church you don't agree with? CANCEL THEM. COYCOTT THEM. SHAME THEM.

Look at J.K. Rowling. Who used the name J.K. because it was suggested that her books would sell better if the readers didn't see the name Joanne on the cover (we can talk misogyny another time). She wrote a tweet supporting her friend who was unjustly fired and simply said women are our own unique beings. Furious gender warriors perceived these statements are trans women can't exist. NONSENSE. Still to date, J.K. never wrote any such statement. These over-grown babies had a sissy fit and went on to burning their Harry Potter books and the actors in the films even went on to turn their backs on the very woman who made their careers!

Recently an feminist philosopher Dr. Devin Buckley was disinvited to speak at Harvard. Her talk was something about literature during the Romanticism Era. That's it. But because personally she spoke out and said trans women are not real women, she was disinvited because her views, according to Harvard, "taking a public stance regarding trans people is dangerous and deceptive". This woman cannot even speak about another topic that she is an expert in and where the students can benefit because she made a tweet about something else.

So what do you think? First off, how to you define CANCEL CULTURE?

Is cancel culture hurting free speech? Is cancel culture going to far? Who do you feel is behind all this?

Share your answers and views on this subject. Looking forward to a conversation.

Peace & Love, GG.
